Connect supplier approval, acceptance and production records

Follow the manufacturing workflow when selecting documents: supplier evaluation and approval, purchase-order requirements, incoming receipt and identification, inspection, production records, product release and shipment.

First Article Inspection addresses initial component checks against drawings and acceptance criteria. Receiving and Identification covers routine receipt and lot identification. Lot Inspection addresses sampling and acceptance decisions. These activities are related but are not interchangeable.

For equipment controls, distinguish calibration from maintenance and installation qualification. For material discrepancies, review nonconforming-material and product-hold documents. Use each product's scope and related links to assemble the controls your operations need.

Equipment qualification and validation documents

Practical guides

Follow the interfaces among supplier approval, receiving, production records, equipment controls and facility transfers.

Connect supplier requirements, acceptance and production evidence

Use this hub for the handoffs among purchasing, receiving, manufacturing, equipment and distribution. Define who owns each decision and which specification or configuration governs the work. An approved supplier, an accepted component and a released finished lot represent different decisions.

Your decision

Starting point

What to check

Supplier capability or approval scope is unclear

Supplier Management

Record the supplied work, quality impact and approval basis.

An order needs controlled technical requirements

Purchase Order controls

Specify the actual drawing/material revision and required evidence.

Received material needs an acceptance decision

Receiving, First Article or Lot Inspection

Match the inspection question to the configuration and lot.

A finished lot needs release evidence

Manufacturing definition and production history

Trace instructions, materials, acceptance and discrepancies.

Equipment or a process moves to another site

Technology Transfer and equipment controls

Assess differences and receiving-site readiness.

What to address first

Follow one actual order or lot through its records. Identify where identity, requirements, status or approval becomes unclear, then read the guide for that interface. Address the specific gap rather than assume that another supplier audit or additional forms will solve every handoff issue.

Individual document, bundle or existing system?

Supplier approval does not automatically cover new work or a changed material. First-article acceptance does not release all later lots. A transfer document does not execute qualification. Review existing documents and evidence before selecting focused procedures.
